Our Story

DG Family Law was founded with the mission to offer exceptional family law services grounded in integrity, efficiency, and empathy. Our principal solicitor, Joshua Davis, brings a wealth of experience in many areas of law, and has created the boutique experience of DG Family Law through his passion for helping families find resolutions that honour their unique circumstances and needs.

OUR TEAM

Joshua

Principal Solicitor

Being raised in a single-parent family, Joshua has firsthand understanding of the effects of family breakdown. While life is about more than family law, Joshua understands that family law (and its application) can have significant effects on your life and the life of your family.
Joshua graduated from Monash University in early 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws. Since being admitted as a family law solicitor, Joshua has worked as a family lawyer at an inner-city private practice, a Senior Associate at an eastern suburbs firm and as a senior member of a firm based in the heart of Dandenong.
He started DG Family Law as the founding partner in September 2021. Joshua works hard to ensure that our clients are treated like real people, that his solicitors are supported to provide premium legal services and that DG Family Law assists in a way that leads to real, practical outcomes.
Joshua is admitted as a legal practitioner in the High Court of Australia and in the Supreme Court of Victoria. He was also a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV), previously serving with the LIV Family Law Working Group with a focus on policy development and outcome management in the Family Law system.
Joshua resides in Ferntree Gully with his wife Anna and their two children – Joy and Sunday. He claims to speak Indonesian, maintains several bee hives and will attempt to run with a pram from time to time in the name of fitness. As a younger man, he was raised in Rowville, where he now seeks to understand and apply the teachings of Jesus in his everyday life.

Dan

Junior Solicitor

Dan is a junior solicitor who joined the team in June 2024. He has a keen eye for detail and a passion for communication where he worked as a teacher after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University in 2020.
He is passionate about helping people who are in the midst of relationship breakdown to understand what is happening, to provide clear options and to provide clarity in moving forward. He is a voice of reason who helps clients to reach fair resolutions and move forward with their lives.
Dan has a keen interest in people and other cultures. He spent a significant portion of his childhood years in Egypt and India, has a background in language teaching, and speaks ‘moderately’ good Chinese. Outside of work Dan enjoys gardening, table tennis, and being an active member of his church.

David

Office Manager

David is our office manager who joined our team after more than a decade of experience in difficult customer service roles. He takes care of our people and assists our solicitors to do what they do best – with maximum focus on clients, legal work and getting the job done.
David is typically your first point of contact with our firm, where he has a knack for making you feel understood, cared for and confident in your direction. David is a grounded family man who enjoys the simple things – including curating his cacti collection and enjoying a hearty meal with friends.
In his free time, David enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, a cold drink of pineapple juice and spending time enjoying God’s creation.

Luke

Legal Assistant

Luke joined DG Family Law in early 2025, where he is currently completing his studies to be admitted as a family law solicitor. Although recently graduated, he has worked as a legal assistant at other firms and volunteered with the Australian Catholic Anti-Slavery Network.
Luke is keen to be a light in the profession, to ensure that people can experience hope and true life in the midst of family law difficulties. Luke will typically assist to call clients and complete simple legal tasks to ensure that our clients have a low cost way of getting things done that do not require high level expertise.
When he is not working, Luke is an avid reader, a committed member of his church and a long-term paddleboarder. He likes to experience new things and meet new people, where he has recently taken up squash and seeks to spend more time learning how to camp and enjoy this with his wife!

Frequently asked questions

It is important to our office that we provide quick service outcomes when you most need them without compromising quality. When you make an enquiry with our office, you can generally expect to make an initial appointment within 3 to 5 days, if not more quickly pending urgency.

We will typically be able to accommodate your first appointment within 72 hours. As we choose to prioritise existing clients, we cannot always guarantee a quick initial appointment, especially when we are receiving a high volume of enquiries.

Typically, in-person meetings are held at our offices in Narre Warren (Fountain Gate) or Scoresby (Caribbean Gardens). Most of our clients come from the broader locality, with many residents from the Rowville and Lysterfield areas for the Scoresby office and from Endeavour Hills up to Clyde for the Narre Warren office.

We also offer virtual consultations. We can make an appointment during your lunch break, while working from home or even while you sit in your car! We like to focus less on where you come from, and focus more on where you are going.

When you make an initial consultation with our office, you will be meeting with a senior associate or a partner who is experienced in family law and who can provide grounded advice to you. We do not believe in cutting costs at the expense of quality advice from experienced professionals.

You may be provided with the option of meeting with a more junior solicitor depending on the complexity of your matter, your capacity to pay, and the staff available to assist in our team. We will also utilise administrative staff to assist on your matter where appropriate and available.
